Top Hill Basketball Club Partners with Reach One Teach One for Anguilla's First-Ever Summer Basketball Camp
The Top Hill Basketball Club is excited to announce its partnership with the UK-based Reach One Teach One organisation to host Anguilla's first-ever "Reach One Teach One - Building Bridges to Success" summer basketball camp. This landmark event will take place from July 22nd to July 26th, 2024.
The Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges to Success basketball camp will offer a unique opportunity for boys and girls aged 7 to 22 to receive professional basketball training from top elite coaches from the United States. The camp which is also being supported by the Anguilla Amateur Basketball Association (AABA) will focus not only on enhancing basketball skills but also on promoting positive attitude and character development.
The primary goal of this charity basketball camp is to assess the island's basketball talent and identify players who have the potential to be recruited by high schools and colleges in the USA on athletic scholarships. This initiative aims to open doors for young athletes, offering them pathways to educational and athletic success.
"This camp represents a significant opportunity for the youth of Anguilla to not only improve their basketball skills but also to grow as individuals. We are thrilled to bring such a prestigious program to our island," said Evette Harrigan, Representative of the Top Hill Basketball Club.
Beresford Mack, Director of the Reach One Teach One – Building Bridges To Success organisation, added, "We have seen incredible talent and potential in the Caribbean, and we are committed to providing these young athletes with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Our camp is about building bridges to success, both on and off the court."
This prestigious camp has a rich history of success, having been conducted on St. Kitts for the past 16 years and on Montserrat last year. It has played a crucial role in securing athletic scholarships for numerous players, including Jhordan Ryan and Wendell Allen from Montserrat, who are currently attending Iowa Lakes College in Iowa on scholarships secured through the camp.
One of the remarkable aspects of the Reach One Teach One camp is that it is completely free for participants. All coaches generously use their time and expertise to make this camp a reality, emphasizing the spirit of community and development.
